Get to know me!

My journey started over a decade ago! Back in 2011, I graduated from Bassett High School and was accepted into UC Davis as a civil engineering major. I believed, as many first-generation students experience, that I was prepared and ready for college-level classes and environment. However, during the course of the school year, I learned that I was not accustomed to the level of rigor a university and had to leave after my first year.

The following year, after have taken the summer off to reflect, I continued my academic career at the community college level. I applied to Rio Hondo College for the Fall of 2012, and that is when I found myself on the junior college path of figuring out exactly what I wanted to study and pursue professionally. The next few years after Rio Hondo, I attended several other junior colleges to learn what I liked and did not like with respect to fields of study and professions.

After years of working and searching for the right career path, I found myself at CSULB in 2019 and had the privilege of joining the Students of Art History (SOAH) club where I became a co-president. This was when I learned that I enjoyed working with and sharing information with fellow students in their pursuit of their careers. This interest helped me find a job on campus being a SOAR Leader. This position is tailored toward helping new students acclimate to their college campus.
